Dr. Lauren Puma is an experienced clinical psychologist (Ph.D.) and internationally-certified Transformational Life Coach. She sees her clients as whole, resilient, and resourceful. She believes that people have the answers within themselves and that therapy provides a safe space for them to explore their inner wisdom.
As a compassionate therapist, Dr. Puma creates a supportive environment for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, stress, and major life transitions (i.e., job loss, death of a loved one, weight loss surgery, adjustment to college life) to process pain, overcome challenges, and reclaim control over their lives. She also empowers her clients to improve their health conditions (i.e., obesity, diabetes, sleep problems, and chronic pain), so that they can live life more fully. She is passionate about supporting her clients in creating sustainable habits that promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Dr. Puma uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), health coaching, and strengths-based approaches to help clients reach their goals and improve their quality of life. She also incorporates Positive Psychology and spiritual modalities (e.g., meditation) into treatment, depending on clients’ interests and needs. When appropriate, she uses humor to connect with clients and as a tool to ease stress and boost mood.
Dr. Puma is especially known for her empathic nature, attentive listening, and perceptive insights. She reflects back on the good she sees in her clients so that they can see more of the good in themselves.
