About Alain Zagorin

Hello! My name is Alain (pronounced Alan), and I am a dedicated psychotherapist passionate about helping individuals understand themselves better. With two master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a master’s in Career Counseling from the University of Sherbrooke, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my practice.

In our sessions, you can expect a warm and empathetic environment where we work together to identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and foster a sense of empowerment. I believe in balancing humor with deeper discussions, drawing from my keen interest in existential psychotherapy to explore life’s big questions and your unique experiences.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative and integrative, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic, and existentialist therapies to tailor my methods to each client’s unique needs. I specialize in addressing anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), men’s issues, LGBTQ+ concerns, life transitions, and sexuality.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy yoga, hiking, reading, and engaging with cultural life activities that I sometimes integrate into therapy to enhance your well-being and balance. You might find me recommending a book, a thought-provoking movie, or even a brisk walk, because I believe therapy extends beyond the couch and into everyday life.

Let’s embark on this journey together, creating a space where you can grow, heal, and thrive.
